Messiah Sing-Along 2022
We hope you'll join us for our traditional sing-along of Handel's Messiah! We're pleased that we can finally be back together as a community to enjoy this timeless masterpiece. We'll sing some of the excerpts from one of the most satisfying choral pieces ever written telling the story of God and humankind in epic proportions and unforgettable musical language. We’ll be joined by soloists from the Choral Society and the Duke University voice department and will be conducted by our artistic director Rodney Wynkoop. Music will be available to borrow for the sing-along, or you can bring your own copy! Can't join us in person? We will also provide this sing-along virtually (registration link below). Once you are registered, your music will be provided to you online. This is a beautiful way to kick-off the holiday season. We hope to see you there!
Admittance is free, but we will gratefully accept donations*
PARKING INFO
Duke Memorial UMC is located at 504 W. Chapel Hill St. in Durham. The main entrance is indicated by the yellow arrow in the image below.
It sits between Duke and Gregson streets, which are both one-way streets (indicated by the arrows in the image). The church has two lots, and we can use both of these (indicated by rectangles on the image). The lot on the side of the church can be entered from westbound Chapel Hill St. or Memorial St. (which runs behind the church). The other lot can only be entered from Memorial St. There is also an unpaved overflow lot next to this lot that we can use. Additionally, there is a parking lot and deck off of Gregson St. that should theoretically be free on the weekends (see the red circle on the image).
There will be folks in the parking lots to direct traffic, to help with handicapped access and to direct folks to the sanctuary from the back lots, and to answer any parking questions.

*As in past years, we will be splitting the net donation proceeds with the DMUMC's Christmas Market:
The Duke Memorial Christmas Market is a one-day, low-cost holiday shopping event for Durham families with limited financial means. It gives parents an opportunity to give Christmas gifts to their children and honors their dignity by letting them do the shopping themselves. It gives donors a chance to share God’s love and experience the true meaning of Christmas.
Our shoppers are families who receive services from our partner agencies such as Urban Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, Families Moving Forward, etc. Our partners distribute shopper passes to families based on need and circumstance. Any proceeds from the Market go back to the agencies that distribute the Shopper’s Passes, a “bonus” gift for everyone involved.
