Membership FAQs
When and where are rehearsals held?
We rehearse Monday evenings from 7:30-9:30 PM at Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (4907 Garrett Rd, Durham, NC 27707). Rehearsal season generally runs from early September to mid-May.
What dues and/or fees are involved?
Annual membership dues are $170. These may be paid in full, in two installments of $85, or in four installments of $42.50. CSD has an internal Financial aid program which is available to those who need it.
CSD purchases music in bulk and provides it for sale at cost to members. Music costs vary depending on the piece – they typically range $1-$20.
Do we need anything to hold our music during performances?
Yes, we require that singers use black folders to hold their music during performances. There are a number of good options for music folders available – for example, https://www.mymusicfolders.com.
Can we use tablets for our music during rehearsals and/or performances?
Yes, tablets can be used for both rehearsals and performances. All scores are scanned and made available to members to download for use on their tablets. We do require that black cases or tablet folders are used in performances.
Is there a dress code for performances?
Yes, there are a couple of options, which can be worn by anyone regardless of gender identity:
-
Tuxedo: a black tuxedo with a white tuxedo shirt and black bow tie.
-
All black: a black button-down shirt or blouse with at least 3/4 length sleeves, with black pants or a floor-length black skirt.
Plain black shoes and black socks or hose should be worn with either of these ensembles.
